August Favourites

Autumn is almost here! Yes, that means back to school and to responsibilities, but I also love autumn. For one, I think that it has the best weather all year, and it's also when my birthday is. I'm so excited for autumn scents, autumn colours, and autumn clothes, along with sweater weather.
Lets get onto my favourites! Some of my favourite posts I made this month were Cherry On TopHello Deerie a review of the Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Loose Powder Shadowsmy favourite budget beauty productsperfectly polished nude lipsmy guide to thrift store shopping, and homemade raspberry lemonade.
Beauty favourites:
I've been trying some new things with my hair, and this has been essential to keep it in place. It's also wonderful at keeping curls intact. Bonus points for being unscented!
Me and my friends used up about half of this taking off our fox makeup after the Taylor Swift concert, but other than that, it lasts really well. It's perfect for taking off stubborn eye makeup.
I've been multitasking a lot with this brush. It's great for both powder and blush, along with blending. It's also a really good price. I mentioned it in this post.
4. Sephora Ultra Shine Gloss in Natural Look
This is the best gloss I've ever tried. It's a gorgeous nude, and makes my lips look fuller. I feel pretty whenever I wear it. I mentioned it in this post
5. L'Oreal Paris Collection Privee nail polish by Doutzen
This is a gorgeous nude pink. I saw it in a sale pile, as I find most things, and grabbed it because it looks so cute. It also seems so suit my skin tone well, which I love.
Other favourites:
Hidden Garden Red Velvet Cookies
These may be the best cookies I've ever tasted! That's a pretty big claim, but I think they measure up. I usually like to make my own baked goodies, but I can make an exception for these.
The Simply Bar in peanut butter chocolatelemon coconut, and caramel & peanut
I've found myself reaching for these whenever I need a snack. They came in a pack of three flavours, and I can't decide which is my favourite. I love them all!
1989 by Taylor Swift
Of course, since I went to her concert and met Taylor Swift, I couldn't help by being obsessed with this album this month. Me and my friends spent quite a while listening to it, making our costumes and our signs.

What were some of your favourites this month?

Hello Deerie

When I saw this dress in the window of a vintage shop, I fell in love. When I went there a few weeks later and it was still there, I knew it was meant to be. Even better, after I had bought it, I discovered it had pockets. Who can resist a dress with pockets?
I also knew that I had to pair this dress with my deer collar clips. I had seen the earrings in a gift shop last summer and picked them up. I don't have pierced ears, but the were just too cute to resist. I turned them into collar clips, and I couldn't be happier with the result.

I'd like to apologize for the weirdly cropped photos. I just don't have the energy tonight to figure out how to make them look better.

Homemade Raspberry Lemonade

To me, it feels like summer is almost over. I never really liked the hot, sunny days that those months bring, but this year I started to fall in love them. This lemonade is my way of saying goodbye to summer, and thanking it for all that it brought. Autumn's not quite here yet, and I'm going to try and make the most of the rest of my summer.
This recipe makes about 2 servings

 You Will Need:
1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup raspberries, washed
1/2 cup lemon juice (this will take about 3 lemons)

You probably want to add at least one more tablespoon of sugar. I really like lemons and sour things, so the lemonade like this is pretty sour. You can add sugar until you have it as sweet as you want!
1. Mix together the water and sugar. When the sugar is completely dissolved , chill this mixture.
2.  Blend your lemon juice and raspberries together in a blender. Strain the mixture so that there are no seeds left.
3. Mix together with your water and sugar mixture. Chill and enjoy!
(I mean to say chill the lemonade, but you can totally chill as well if you'd like)
If you try this recipe, I would love to know how it works for you. Leave me a comment down below, or email me at

Have a wonderful rest of your summer!

Perfectly Polished Nude Lips

In my opinion, one of the best ways to look instantly classy is to have perfectly polished lips. As I'm rather self conscious, one of my favourite ways to do that is to wear a nude lip. I find that it looks effortless but also sophisticated, in a way.
So I thought that I'd give you all a look into some of my favourite natural-looking lip products! Before we begin, I would just like to say what works for me may not work for you. Most of these suit my skin tone, and I'm really pale. Like a deathly kind of pale.
The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick in Nude
Can I start this off by saying how nice it smells? It has just a hint of floral, and I absolutely love it. It's also nice in the fact that it doesn't dry out your lips, and would be perfect to pop in your purse. I have a review of it here, if you'd like to learn more.
Maybelline Color Whisper in One Size Fits Pearl
This is really more of a balm. It keeps your lips nice and soft, but leaves them a little shinier and adds the tiniest dose of shimmer. I got it on sale, and the price makes it the perfect balm for a little bit of moisture.
Avon Ultra Color Lipstick in Blush Nude
This is a perfect nude lipstick as it's quite buildable. I also like the fact that it doesn't dry out my lips, like other lipsticks might. I've found that it's the perfect classic nude for my skintone.
Sephora Ultra Shine Gloss in Natural Look
I decided to save the best for last. Now, I never thought that I was one for shiny lip gloss, but this gloss might have changed my mind. It leaves my lips looking natural, and adds a but more dimension. I always thought that I was a matte lip kind of girl, but this might be the gloss to convert me!

Have you tried any of these before? What's your favourite way to rock a nude lip?

My Favourite Budget Beauty Products

"Budget beauty?" you may be thinking. "Isn't all she blogs about budget beauty?"
Well, yeah, it kind of is. I've been trying out a few more expensive beauty products, but yeah, pretty much all you see on here is budget beauty. What can I say? I'm cheap.
That being said, I thought I'd share with you some of my all time favourite budget beauty buys. I'm pretty sure all of these are under $10, with the exception of the foundation, which is under $20 or $15 depending where you buy it.
Also, before I begin, I should tell you that all of these products have been featured on my blog before. If I gave a full review on them, I'll link to it.
Almay Clear Complexion Foundation
This is my all time favourite foundation. The main reason being, it doesn't irritate my super-sensitive skin. It doesn't seem to give me any more blemishes then I already have (which is quite a few), and it's a near perfect match to my skin tone.
elf Studio Blush in Twinkle Pink
You're probably all sick of hearing about this blush by now. I've mentioned it a million times on here. But I'm going to talk about it again, because it has great colour, pigmentation, and a great price.
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Pink Blush
This is such a pretty bright pink lipstick for summer! I got this for stage makeup, but ended up not using it on stage and using it a lot more in my day to day life.
Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara
I have a really clumpy mascara at the moment, and this has been a lifesaver for me! I put on a few coats of this before and after my regular mascara, and make makes it look a hundred times better. To be fair, I could also use this on it's own as I have naturally dark lashes.
NYX Glam Shadow in Pixie Dust
This is the perfect nude eyeshadow for my skin tone. It blends nicely into my lids to give me a subtle shimmery base that I can build off of. Review here.

Have you tried any of these before? What is your favourite budget beauty product?

Cherry On Top

This outfit makes me feel like I am, or should be wearing, an apron.  It makes me feel like I'm a waitress at a retro diner. Not sure why. Maybe that's the reason that I named this outfit Cherry On Top, because it reminds me of an old-fashioned ice cream sundae.
Of course, I found this shirt at a thrift store! First of all, I absolutely love the colour. Secondly, if something has a peter pan collar, it's almost guaranteed that I'll buy it! I also really like the little polka dots and lace details.
When I saw this ring at my local farmer's market, I fell in love with it. I love the rhinestone colours, and it's adjustable. And not like one of those cheap ring that say they're adjustable but really aren't. You know, the ones that you practically have to use pliers to wrench apart.
I got the skirt last summer. I'm not usually one for skirts that don't flare or aren't particularly puffy, but I still love this one. I love the way that it gathers at the waist, and I love the little polka dots. It makes me feel so pretty whenever I wear it!
And of course, I couldn't find any of these pieces online. That always happens. I did try my best to find similar one, though!

My Guide To Thrift Store Shopping

If you know me, you may know that I love to get stuff from my local thrift store. It's pretty cheap, and you can find some great stuff in there. Because I've spent so much time in that place and gotten so many things there, I thought that I'd share a little guide with you. Of course you don't have to follow it, it's just what works for me!
1. Be open minded
You don't just have to look for clothes at a thrift store (unless it's specifically for clothes). I often like to get teacups there and, just recently, I started looking for old musical soundtracks on vinyls so that I can hang the covers on my walls. Yes, that's where I get all the teacups you've seen on this blog from!

2. Try it on (if you can)
It's great to see if it actually fits you or not. It may have some weird deformation that you didn't notice when it was hanging up, and that's why the previous owner gave it away.

3. Know what you're capable of
Often  when I try on a piece of clothing, it's a little too big on me. It helps to look at the seams and see if it's possible for me to take it in. I have a huge pile of clothes to fix that I'm finally getting around to now that it's summer. Sometimes, though, I can't fix it, and I take on projects that are too big for me. One idea I have is to turn a dress that's too big into a skirt, as the top can be too complex.
4. Know what you like
It's great to keep in mind what you "style" is. I'm not saying to not try new things, but if there are certain colours or styles you like, it will make it easier to pinpoint what to look for.

5. Visualize the possibilities
For example, if it's a piece of clothing, I like to envision how I'd wear it and where I'd wear it. If you can't see yourself wearing it or feeling comfortable with it or in it, you probably shouldn't get it.

Do you like to go to thrift stores?

{Review} Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Loose Powder Shadows

I've been raving about the Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Loose Powder Shadow in Breaking Bronze in my last few posts, so I thought that it's time I did a review on it. I also picked up the shade Buff & Tuff, and I've been loving it too.
 What the website promises:
1. Easy, no mess application
2. Stays put for 24 hours
3. Crease proof

How I think it compares:
1. I don't find it messier than any other shadow. It does tend to clump a little, though, if you're not careful.
2. I usually use a primer, but even on the days that I haven't, it stays put. I've never worn it for a full 24 hours, but it lasts for as long as you'd usually wear it and stands up to a little sweat and rubbing.
3. To be quite honest, I've never had problems with creasing eyeshadow. This shadow is no different!
35 Breaking Bronze
I like to wear this shadow on it's own, and sometimes even without an eyeliner. I find that, with a few coats of mascara, it makes my eyes noticeable enough. I don't really have any other shadows this colour, which may be why I like it so much.

60 Buff & Tuff
My favourite way to wear this colour is with a little bit of a chocolate coloured liner. It gives my eyes a sort of natural smokey look, and I finish it off with a few coats of mascara.
I swatched the colours so that you could get a better look at them, as they do look a little different than they do in their packaging.

Have you tried these before? What do you think of them?
